In 1623, Henry Cockeram coined the word “apricity” in his The English Dictionary; or, An Interpreter of Hard English Words.
It means: “the warmth of sun in winter.”
For reasons unknown, the word never caught on and now can only be found in the Oxford English Dictionary. Still, what a lovely word to describe the beautiful feeling of the sun’s warm embrace on a cold winter’s day. ☀️
