Have you ever woken up and thought, βWhy canβt I just feel motivated to create today?β
What if I told you thereβs a secret to motivation you might not be harnessing? Hereβs the thing, friend, effort must be pleasurable to be sustained. I knowβ¦ SO much easier said than done, but hear me outβ
If youβre pushing yourself to do something only for a future goal or reward, youβll find that youβre enjoying the process less and less over time.
Why?
Because you cannot will yourself to do something forever if youβre not enjoying it. Sure, you can do it for a season, but it wonβt last.
To have long-term success and motivation, you must be more excited about the activity, project, creation, work, etc., than any external validation, accolade, metric, or financial goal.
Knowing this should inspire us to evaluate all the things we doβwithin our control, of course. We must ask ourselves: What about this inspired, excites, or moves me?
When things get difficult, remind yourself that you are doing this by choice and because you love it.
Thatβs enough motivation to carry you through it all.
